There are three churches in Cambridge Bay: Catholic, Anglican and Pentecostal. As I have never been to an Anglican or Pentecostal church, I decided to stick with the somewhat familiar and went to Cambridge Bay Roman Catholic Church this morning. There was a total of eleven people (including myself) attending, so when the worship leader said after the service, "It's good to see some new faces here today," and gave me a glance out of the corner of her eye, I figured she was talking about me. : ) It ended up being the shortest service I have ever gone to in my life; only 30 minutes!

The Kitikmeot Heritage Society is hosting a mural artist from Calgary this week as she paints a wall in the high school. To welcome her, Renee organized a potluck dinner. I wasn't really sure what I was going to bring until I went to the grocery store and realized it was closing in five minutes. It never occurred to me that a grocery store wouldn't be open for 24 hours...I am way too accustomed to Super Wal-Marts. My 7-layer taco dip quickly turned into a Velveeta and salsa dip, but fortunately, it was well received. The dinner was wonderful and I had a great time hanging out with my new friends!
Tomorrow is the start of the Omingmak Frolics, an annual weeklong festival that includes a seal hunting competition, feasts, games and ski-doo races! You can view the schedule at http://www.cambridgebay.ca/recreation/Frolics%20program.pdfI am very excited!
