Happy Aboriginal & Father's Day!

A very special shoutout to any fathers reading this blog, especially my dad! Happy Father's Day!

It was also Aboriginal Day today, so I woke up by watching the Yellowknife Aboriginal Day celebration, which included performances by throat singers, a rapper and a blues band. Here is a blog that has some great pictures of the festivities. The Cambridge Bay Aboriginal Day celebration will take place this Thursday, so I will write more about that when it happens.

I decided to walk around tonight and take video of Cambridge Bay in case I have time to make a small documentary before I leave. I was glad to get some of the kids on film, but not much was going on in town tonight.

As I have started to prepare for my departure, I have been dealing with some mixed emotions. I wish I could stay here longer because I want to do so many more things for this community. This is the first time that I have stayed for a long period of time in a place that I will probably never return to. Though I would love to come back to Cambridge Bay someday, I have to be honest with myself. I have not let this affect the way I pursue relationships since I've been here, so it will be difficult to leave them. Hopefully, I will maintain these long-distance relationships well, but this is something I have not done so well in the past.
